The Lithuanian Oboe Quintet was founded in 2007 at the initiative of Robertas Beinaris. The ensemble consists of two oboes, oboe d’amore, cor anglaise and bassoon – a line-up hardly to be found elsewhere in Lithuania and abroad. The Quintet performs diverse music ranging from Baroque to contemporary, but major portion of its repertoire consists of arrangements specially made by composer Vaida Striaupaitė-Beinarienė and the artistic leader of the ensemble, Robertas Beinaris.
The ensemble has presented numerous programmes across Lithuania and abroad, often in collaboration with the outstanding Lithuanian soloists. In 2008, the Quintet was awarded First Prize at the 8th International Competition “Music without Borders.”
The programme marking the ensemble’s 10th anniversary will showcase new works by Lithuanian composers written especially for the Quintet. We make history together and make our beloved country better known outside Lithuania.
This is the first concert in the series of events organised in anticipation of the Centennial of the Restored Lithuanian State.
