“SALVE MUSICA” – honour be to music and festival!

Christmas is coming near. It is the season, when everybody longs for real warmth, special mood and spirituality. When everybody wants to experience eternal things…
Festival of the seasonal classics “SALVE MUSICA” will render recreation for your souls and minds, and will fill your hearts with real Christmas spirit. Let music of the most wonderful season be with you!

In the Concert hall that was regenerated for the new life in the end of 2004 with the festival “Music is Coming Back” the most beautiful music sounds spread, the most talented works sound and the most outstanding performers play all year round. This year festival “SALVE MUSICA” takes over the relay – race of the seasonal events. Festival promises for the citizens of Klaipėda and guests of the city to present the bouquet of the concerts of the seasonal classics in December of every year.

Festival “SALVE MUSICA” is taking place in December 8 – 31, 2005. Eight special evenings are waiting for you, music and festival are inviting you!

Beginning of the festival with piano virtuoso Mūza Rubackytė

Beginning of the festival will be announced on the 8th of December (the concert is delayed to 29 December 6 p.m. instead of 18 December ) by the most distinguished guest – piano virtuoso Mūza Rubackytė, that lives in Paris. „It is a phenomenal artist, one of the most talented pianists. Lightning effects in the style of Berman surprisingly pertain to the sound plenitude in Barenboim style in her manner of performance,“ – “Fanfare Magazine” depicts the artist. Accent of M. Rubackytė’s solo program “Years of Wandering” is the piano cycle by Ferenz Liszt with the same name. According to “Fanfare Magazine”, „M. Rubackytė is one of the greatest contemporary interpreters of Liszt’s music“.

Having unveiled the shroud of Renaissance mystery and risen above the white silence…

Performers of Klaipėda have prepared two projects for festival. On the 14th of December solemn music, performed by Klaipėda Brass Quintet, alluring dancers of “Saltanda” in gorgeous authentic wear, uplifted songs and arias of the old composers, performed by the soloist of Klaipėda Musical Theater Rasa Ulteravičiūtė, will carry their audience back to the Renaissance epoch to the fiesta in palace and create the spiritual mood of waiting for Holy Christmas...

The project that is scheduled for the second day of Holy Christmas festival, on the 26th of December “Above the White Silence...” will attractively present combination of classical and contemporary music. Classical sound will be represented by Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra group “Dolcissimo”, contemporary one – by Deividas Kontrimas’ Quartet of Modern Jazz.

Choir “Young Music” and Ensemble “4 Tango” will dizzy with Argentine music

On the 15th of December listeners will be surprised with something they should have not heard before – hot dizziness, inspirational rhythms, flaring passion – collar of song and dance... Choir “Young Music” and Ensemble “4 Tango” looks at distant Argentina. Popular Argentine melodies and their arrangements to the choir represent the culture that is little known to us. Some of the authors – A. Piazolla or A. Ginestra – are popular in the whole world, but others are still little heard. We probably cannot imagine Latin American culture without perpetual Tango, but who from us could explain what the words “milonga, cueca or chacarera” mean?

We believe that this concert will warm up and illuminate our long evenings, when we impatiently and hopefully wait for the miracle of Holy Christmas...

Jazz Stars, masterly improvisations and tempestuous rhythms in the project “Fiesta Latina”

Once again we will visit Latin America on the 20th of December in the project “Fiesta Latina”. Two different ensembles will join together – “Giunter Percussion”, that plays academic music, and – Quartet of Leonidas Šinkarenka, that performs jazz music. Audience will be intrigued by exotic musical instruments from different nations, its breath will be caught by tempestuous rhythms, listeners will be enchanted by spontaneous improvisations, will be delighted by energy of the talented masters of a stage... Inspiring performance of the artists will balance on the border dividing academic, jazz and “world music”, and certainly will make more than one listener exclaim “Bravo! Bis!”

“Salve Musica – For Young” will wait for Holy Christmas in the castle hall

Winter... It’s cold... The sun rises lower and lower above the horizon. But Christmas is already quite near… What could warm the little heart? Only the flame of a candle and … music.

“Salve Musica” greets its young listeners! On the 18th of December Klaipėda Chamber orchestra and the flock of wonderful children from Klaipėda music schools will wait for Holy Christmas in the castle hall.

Festive present of V. Čepinskis and “Camerata Klaipėda”

In the newest seasonal program of violin virtuoso Vilhelmas Čepinskis and the ensemble “Camerata Klaipėda” under his guidance will sound “Only Mozzart and Piazzolla” – classics of violin and string orchestra music and special arrangements, that had not been played in Lithuania yet. In the concert that is scheduled on the 28th of December the viola soloist, member of “Kremerata Baltica” orchestra Ūla Ulijona Žebriūnaitė will perform.

On the eve of the New Year – passionate “Invitation to Dance”

New Year’s bouquet of the world dances: from elegant Viennese waltz to the sizzling rumba of Caribbean islands; from Norwegian dances that savour of fiords to the passionate tango of Buenos Aires. The bouquet will be handed to the listeners by “The Disobedients” (“Nepaklusnieji”) – team of the fold that endeavours to broaden the limits of chamber music, to acquaint public with abundance of unheard-of and wonderful works. Immediate communication with public, unconventional presentation of concert programs and good mood constitute the credo of “The Disobedients”.
