"The Sounding Wave" 2006

Festival “Sounding Wave” (“Skambanti banga”)

Klaipėda Concert Hall opens event calendar of March with the 10th anniversary international festival of young performers “Sounding Wave”, that is taking place in March 5 – 11. This festival provides the young talents from Klaipėda, other Lithuanian cities and abroad with respectable stage and invites the community of the city to get to know and enjoy their music.

The festival that is taking place annually since very 1997 year summarizes experience of ten years and invites to six concerts this year.

Traditionally “Parade of the Small Musicians” will open the festival with the performers of the age from 5 to 10 to participate in it.

“Young Performers and Music Stars” will present this year symphony orchestra of National Art School of M. K. Čiurlionis. Famous saxophone player Petras Vyšniauskas will play with the youth orchestra, LNOBT conductor Martynas Staškus, master of baton, will conduct the orchestra in the concert.

Participants of the past festivals of “Sounding Wave” that continue their studies in the high music schools of Austria, Belgium, Russia, Sweden, Italy, Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and National Gymnasium of Arts of M. K. Čiurlionis will perform in the concert “I Have Chosen the Pathway of a Musician...” We will hear the talented young people that will play in the instruments of every description – piano, violin, cello, contrabass, clarinet, bassoon, harp. We will also listen to the singing of the student of LAMT Viktoras Gerasimovas, which is gifted with sopranino – very rare male voice.

Works of schoolchildren, students and graduates of Klaipėda performed by their contemporaries and professional performers will sound in the concert “Music of the Young Composers”.

Closing concert – this year it is “Caravan of Jazz” – traditionally is dedicated for the day of the Re-establishment of the Independence of Lithuania. We will hear the young jazz performers from Klaipėda and Klaipėda district in the concert.

Novelty of the festival is master class. The class will be led by acknowledged performers: virtuoso of percussion Pavelas Giunteris – founder and director of the ensemble “Giunter Percussion” (former „Vilniaus mušamieji“ – “Vilnius Percussion”) – together with one of the most famous Lithuanian jazz musicians, saxophone player, associated professor of Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre Petras Vyšniauskas. All students who play saxophone and percussion are invited to take part in the class. Master class will be crowned with the concert of participants.

Truly joyful is the fact that “Sounding Wave” that sounds for the tenth time is well-known and expected musical festival that has its own auditorium and continually growing band of the performers.
