Mozart Piano Concerti in Klaipeda

The Achievement of a Great Cycle and the Birth of a First Class Chamber Orchestra

Next 8th of June 2012 will reach the end of Alexander Paley’s two years collaboration with Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra on an outstanding interpretation of all Mozart’s piano concerti and which is already to be remembered as one of the most meaningful Mozart event.

The great pianist Alexander Paley has a very special connection with Mozart piano works which are according to him ‘maybe the most difficult for a pianist’ therefore he wishes to perform most of the time those ‘works for Eternity’ in the form of a cycle, the most suitable way, according to him, to reveal their incredible deepness by making each one enlighten the others.

This is the reason why he decided to perform all Mozart piano sonatas in Beijing next November as he already did a few years ago in Paris and this is as well why he proposed Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra to perform all Mozart piano concerti as a cycle.

Listening Alexander Paley playing Mozart Piano Concerti is a real musical happening for the public. At first his incredible articulation brings us to a totally new understanding of the initial allegro, then his sensitive touch leads us with some unbelievable pianissimi to the mysterious charm of the adagio when suddenly the audience is carried away breathless by unprecedented fast tempi to the cheerful rondo.

The particular relationship that Alexander Paley has with Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra is something which should be meditated by all young professional conductors. Without being himself a trained conductor Alexander Paley was able to settle a real partnership with this Orchestra. Managing in a short time to know each instrumentalist well enough to give him the confidence he needed to respond efficiently to the Maestro’s musical request, Alexander Paley opened the way to an intense musical dialog between the piano and the orchestra. Quickly and with the help of the primarius Zigmantas Brazauskas as well the excellent first cello soloist and Artistic Director of the Orchestra Mindaugas Bačkus, the Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra reached during his collaboration with Alexander Paley a definite high musical level.
