The festival will close with the programme “The Power of Romantic Music” presented by the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra. Two outstanding opera soloists, soprano Aistė Pilibavičiūtė and bass Liudas Mikalauskas will appear together with the Orchestra, directed by Modestas Pitrėnas and this time conducted by Modestas Barkauskas. Pilibavičiūtė will make her debut appearance at the Klaipėda Concert Hall, while local audiences are well-familiar with Mikalauskas. Being one of the most renowned basses of young generation, he is constantly winning public favour by his exceptional voice and artistry both at major venues and in small towns across the country and abroad.
The two soloists often meet on the stage of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre where they have more than once impersonated husband and wife, or father and daughter. Last year Aistė was awarded the Soloist of the Year title in the LNOBT annual awards, while Liudas received this honorary title this year. He has also won Grand Prix and 1st prizes in twelve international vocal competitions.
In 2017, conductor Modestas Barkauskas won the Bronze Baton and monetary prize at the Grzegorz Fitelberg Conducting Competition in Poland. He not only prepares new programmes with the St, Christopher Chamber Orchestra, in which he is currently appointed Artistic Director and Chief Conductor, but also conducts performances at the LNOBT and appears as guest conductor with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra.
At the beginning of this concert we will immerse ourselves in the romantic world of tone poem In the Forest by Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. Then we will dream of Vilnius, together with the main protagonist of the opera Dalia by Balys Dvarionas, and praise love together with the characters from the opera Queen Bona by Giedrius Kuprevičius.
In the second half of the concert the soloists and the Orchestra will perform fragments from the well-known operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Charles Gounod, Gaetano Donizetti and George Gershwin.

May “The Power of Romantic Music” fill your hearts with the sounds of ravishing beauty!
