The programme “Fantasia Concertante,” presented by the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, will accompany the New Year’s Eve celebration. Wonderful soloists – Lithuanian soprano Lauryna Bendžiūnaitė and Russian guitarist Dimitri Illarionov will join the Orchestra on this festive occasion.
Raised in Nida, a famous Baltic seaside resort, Lauryna Bendžiūnaitė laid a foundation for her future career as an opera singer at the Stasys Šimkus Conservatory in Klaipėda, from which she went on to study at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius and later at the Royal Academy of Music in London. For the 4 seasons in a row the Lithuanian soprano was member of the ensemble of Staatstheater Stuttgart where she appeared in around 35 roles every year. She has also performed major soprano roles at the Opera National du Rhin in Strasbourg and at the Royal Swedish Opera. She made her debut at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre as Xenia in the production of Boris Godunov while she was still a student. She is also a member of the Vilnius City Opera and appears with various orchestras at music festivals.
Mindaugas Bačkus, artistic director of the KCO, introduces Dimitry Illarionov as “one of the most renowned classical guitarists in the world today, noted not only for his exceptional virtuosity but also for his phenomenal sense of style and charisma. The Russian guitarist is known throughout the world, many composers have dedicated their works to him; some of these compositions we have included in our New Year’s Eve concert. He is like a herald who calls and inspires to write for his instrument with his outstanding performances.”
“Fantasia Concertante” is your lucky ticket to the year 2019! We congratulate you for choosing it for your celebrations and for being together with the everlasting classical music! May it stay with you on your happy paths in the New Year!
