The educational project of the Klaipėda Concert Hall entitled “The Orchestra of Playful Music” began in 2009 and now counts its 21st episode to be presented in February 2017. Over the past years quite a few musically gifted children have enjoyed an opportunity to appear as soloists with the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra. The Episode 21 will feature two brothers – 12-year-old violinist Ethan Cotta and 9-year-old cellist Samuel Cotta. Their precocious technical abilities will be demonstrated in the performances of masterpieces by Antonio Vivaldi, Luigi Boccherini, and Christian Sinding, which are usually considered classic staples in the virtuoso repertoire for strings. Their mom, the acclaimed pianist Tamami Honma, will join her boys at the harpsichord.
This musical family currently lives in the United States, California, and frequently appears in concerts. Last year Ethan served as California’s Junior State Ambassador for Youth Focus in 2015 and played throughout the state. The two boys also enjoy mathematics and sports, as well as helping their sister with her homework. At home they keep family pet rabbit Roxy and a lively aquarium.
We sincerely hope that this concert would encourage families in Klaipėda to engage in making music together with their children.
