Eternal Light

On the eve of All Souls’ Day, the vaults of St. Casimir Church will be filled with music born from silence, contemplation, and the human search for light. Klaipėda Brass Quintet, Klaipėda Choir “Aukuras”, and organist Andrius Bartulis will present a programme where voices, the timbres of brass instruments, and the sound of the organ invite listeners to turn their attention to what often remains beyond the noise of everyday life.

The grandeur of Baroque polyphony, perfect form, and spiritual balance will be felt in the music of J. S. Bach; the special connection between word and sound will unfold through the works of Henry Purcell, while the compositions of Arvo Pärt will remind us how much fullness can be found in ascetic simplicity. Christopher Tambling’s Mass “Brevis”, also featured in the programme, will continue this atmosphere, with the choir’s voices inviting listeners to prayer, reflection, and inner peace.

With more than three decades of history, Klaipėda Choir “Aukuras” turns in this programme towards music where the most important element is not external effect, but inner experience. Works from different periods will come together in a narrative fitting for All Souls’ Day – a story of remembrance, prayer, and the human need to pause.
