Music Without Borders

Sometimes, in order for music to reveal itself in a new way, the first thing we need to do is close our eyes. In the immersive programme Music Without Borders, the Klaipėda Choir Aukuras invites audiences to focus entirely on listening and to experience music anew.

When visual impressions are set aside, sound becomes the main guide. The unique qualities of the human voice, the acoustics of the space, the dynamics of music, and even the meaning of silence become more clearly revealed. Each work invites listeners to focus on what often remains unnoticed and to experience music not through sight, but through hearing, imagination, and personal reflection.

The programme features works by Henry Moses, Vaclovas Augustinas, Henry Purcell, an arrangement of a song by Cyndi Lauper, Lithuanian folk songs, and other composers. Music from different eras and traditions comes together in a unified narrative, revealing the diversity of human vocal expression — from choral polyphony and sacred serenity to contemporary harmonies and interpretations of popular music.

For more than three decades, the Klaipėda Choir Aukuras, led by Tomas Ambrozaitis, has not only performed the classical choral repertoire but has also continuously explored new forms of artistic expression and expanded the boundaries of the traditional concert experience. In the immersive programme Music Without Borders, the choir invites audiences to trust in the stories that sound alone can tell and to discover music as a personal experience that unfolds differently for every listener.
