Excerpts from 'Romeo and Juliet' - Hector Berlioz, Charles Gounod, Henry Mancini, Nino Rota, Maurice Ravel, Pēteris Vasks, as well as compositions by Dalia Dedinskaitė and Gleb Pyšniak
“Love, he and she, she and he, she and she, he and he. Love for a person, love for one’s country, for religion. According to Einstein, love is something that science cannot explain. Love and beauty are what can save the world,” say the project’s creators. According to them, the current backdrop of war, discord among different religions, the thin line between love and hate, and the belief that love will save the world—this is the dance performance “This is Not Romeo and Juliet.”
Choreographer Palle Granhøj is the artistic director of the internationally recognized company “Granhøj Dans.” His creative credo is to showcase not dancers and choreography on stage, but to reveal men and women as they are: real, alive, and complex. The music for the dance will be performed by the duo of Dalia Dėdinskaitė and Gleb Pyšniak, known not only for their virtuosity but also for their original and unconventional programs.
