The creative collaboration between Swiss conductor Matthias Kuhn and the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra culminates in an ambitious and extraordinary program prepared for the “Klaipėda Music Spring” festival. To honor the 150th anniversary of M. K. Čiurlionis’ birth, the orchestra will present a newly arranged version of Čiurlionis’ String Quartet in C Minor, crafted by Vilhelmas Čepinskis. This arrangement features an entirely new finale, breathing fresh life into the masterpiece. The program also highlights the early works of composers who later became pioneers of modernism, infused with authentic Romanticism: Anton Webern’s “Langsamer Satz” (“Slow Movement”) and Arnold Schönberg’s “Notturno.” The evening will conclude with Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E Minor, a work of exquisite late Romantic beauty, performed by the orchestra’s artistic director and one of Lithuania’s leading cellists, Mindaugas Bačkus.
*The ticket price includes a 1.40 EUR service fee from the Kakava.lt system. This fee is not subject to any discounts.
