Zarzuela is a Spanish lyric-dramatic genre of musical theatre that combines spoken and sung scenes, the latter incorporating operatic arias and popular songs, as well as dance. This performance is constructed from a variety of Spanish arias and songs, revealing both the characters and the plot twists. The action takes place in a family taverna in a small Andalusian town, surrounded by cosy greenery and warmth. There is passionate music, hearts full of searing emotions, glasses full of wine and bodies never tired of dancing. This music cannot be played or listened to indifferently – it just won’t sound. You have to feel the heat of the south, the taste of the wine, the allure of the dark-eyed Spanish woman.
The performance will be like a breath of fresh air for anyone tired of today’s current affairs: there will be sunshine, warmth and real feelings, lots of passionate music, tango and flamenco dances.
