Sunrise Mass
Artistic Director Mindaugas Bačkus
Programme: Ola Gjeilo Sunrise Mass
With this programme, conductor Tomas Ambrozaitis introduces himself as the newly appointed Artistic Director of the Klaipėda Choir Aukuras. For his debut in this capacity he chose to perform the Sunrise Mass by Ola Gjeilo, a Norwegian composer living in New York who has recently experienced a meteoric rise in popularity because of his masterwork for two mixed choirs and string orchestra, which premiered in 2008. Since then, the Mass has been presented in concerts both in the united States and across the world to grand acclamation. The Klaipėda Choir Aukuras will perform this Mass together with the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra.
