The programme presented by pianist Gintaras Januševičius is a musical mystery play that draws on Venetian legends and sceneries. The pianist will take us on a journey through the mysterious city where we will be ushered into the secrets of the times long past, while listening to the exquisite selection of works as if taking a gondola ride past the famous Venetian cityscapes, characters and local specialties. You will surely recognize the popular Venetian Carnival masks, such as Pierrot and Harlequin, Casanova the wily seducer, and relish the sounds inspired by the colours of Murano glass, silk garments and tapestries, as well as the heady scent of orange blossoms.

Currently enjoying a successful career as a concert pianist, music educator, event producer and philanthropist, Januševičius was educated first at the Eduardas Balsys Gymnasium of Arts in Klaipėda and the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts in Vilnius, then at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and completed his studies at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover (HMTM Hannover) with Vladimir Krainev and Bernd Goetzke. A prize-winner of 15 international competitions, he has appeared as a soloist with more than 30 major orchestras, as well as performed recitals and chamber music programmes in Lithuania and Germany as well as in New York, Washington, D.C., Rio de Janeiro, Shenzhen, London, Paris, Berlin, Madrid, Rome, Vienna, Tel Aviv, Warsaw, Zurich, etc. In 2020 he joined the teaching staff of the HMTM Hannover. Next year he joined the team of the Lithuanian National Classical Radio LRT KLASIKA as a co-host of the music show “Bazinis akordas” (Basic Chord). In season 2022/2023 Januševičius is scheduled to appear on tours, masterclasses, and competition juries in Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
