Description
Episode 25 in the Orchestra of Playful Music series will bring back the tradition of the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra accompanying the best of talent from the Lithuanian music schools. This time the orchestra will appear next to the supremely gifted young musicians supported by the “Support for Lithuania’s Children” fund established by the world-renowned cellist and conductor Mstislav Rotropovich.

This unique endowment that provides patronage and support for the education of especially gifted children has been in operation since 2003. Over the years, it has helped hundreds of young musicians fulfil their dreams of becoming accomplished professional musicians. This embarked quite a few currently active Lithuanian artists on their international careers.

The programme features current scholarship holders of the fund, including Ugnė Katinskaitė (violin), Liepa Jurgutavičiūtė (violin), Rugilė Juknevičiūtė (cello), and Jonas Vozbutas (accordion). To commemorate the centenary of Camille Saint-Saëns’s death (1835–1921), the programme of this concert is comprised solely of works by the great French composer and organist.
