The second closing gala of the KIVA is slated for July 6th – the day of Lithuanian Statehood, marking the coronation of King Mindaugas. The roster of this concert features cello ensembles, orchestra and chorus.
The cello ensemble and orchestra was tutored by Joseph Hasten – one of the most prominent cello pedagogues in Germany. After completing his cello studies at the International Menuhin Music Academy in Gstaad, Switzerland with Pierre Fournier and Yehudi Menuhin, he has performed and taught throughout Europe, both as a cellist and as a lecturer in chamber music. Mr. Hasten is the leader of the Tübingen music school's chamber orchestra as well as the prestigious cello ensemble “± 12Vc.”
The cellists’ chorus was tutored by Algirdas Biveinis – a young conductor, currently studying orchestral and choral conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, Austria.
In this concert we will also observe the tradition of singing Vincas Kudirka’s National Anthem together with our compatriots all over the world at 9 p.m. on July 6th. Thus the sense of unity will prevail not only among the participants of the Academy but also among all members of the audience.
