The Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra enjoys yet another stroke of luck to share the stage with the world-renowned Lithuanian pianist, Mūza Rubackytė. Under the artistic leadership of Mindaugas Bačkus, the orchestra seizes every opportunity to create peerless interpretations together with this distinguished soloist who says that “a musical masterpiece is miraculously reborn each time it is performed.”
The piano virtuoso frequently travels the width and breadth of Europe, North and South Americas and Asia with concerts. The illustrious roster of her stage partners includes many of the world’s leading orchestras, conductors and soloists. She is the recipient of Lithuanian Government’s Prize and Lithuanian National Arts and Culture Prize, the founder and artistic director of the Vilnius Piano Music Festival. This year the festival will see its sixth edition. Before the last chords of the festival will stop vibrating, the pianist will arrive in Klaipėda to perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto with the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra.
Latvian conductor Normunds Šnē, distinguished for his elegance and refined musical taste, will mount the conductor’s podium. An expert in Baroque, classical and contemporary music, he is committed to his work with the “Sinfonietta Riga” orchestra as its artistic director, and rarely performs as a guest conductor.
The programme will also feature two twentieth-century orchestral compositions by Polish-Jewish composer Mieczysław Weinberg (2019 marks the centenary of his birth) and Polish violinist and composer Grażyna Bacewicz.
