Ringmasters (vocal ensemble)

The human voice can become a whole orchestra. For two decades, the Swedish vocal quartet Ringmasters has amazed audiences with precisely this ability, needing nothing more than four voices and exceptional musical understanding between the singers. In their programmes, the ensemble masterfully combines the Swedish choral tradition, jazz, and popular music hits — from The Beatles to Elvis Presley. Founded in Stockholm, the ensemble gained international attention in 2012 when it became the first non-American group to win the world barbershop championship in the United States. This tradition, based on close harmony and the unique blending of voices, expands far beyond its origins in Ringmasters’ artistry and continues to surprise audiences. In 2026, Ringmasters celebrate twenty years of creative work with the anniversary programme 20 Years of Good Vibrations, bringing together the qualities that have become their signature: virtuosic vocal mastery, the melodic richness of Swedish music, and the ability to establish an immediate connection with audiences from the very first note. Over two decades, the quartet has preserved the essential principle of a cappella music — every voice has its own role, and together they can create something far greater than the sound of just four individuals.

* Barbershop is a style of arranging four-part a cappella harmony; it is not a historical period, musical style, or genre. The melody is usually carried by the second voice, while harmony is built above and below it. The arranger harmonises each note of the melody, using only a limited number of passing tones or doublings, creating greater harmonic movement through the inclusion of secondary chord progressions. The baritone part has a unique function, filling in the missing note of each chord.
