The Kaunas State Choir, led by maestro Robertas Šervenikas, presents a program of sacred music that spans centuries, traditions, and spiritual worlds. At the heart of the evening are the search for a person’s inner voice, the longing for light, and the tranquility of prayer conveyed through choral singing. A special place in the program is given to M. K. Čiurlionis’ choral works – from liturgical pieces filled with deep spirituality to tender Lithuanian songs that reveal the gentleness and inner light of the nation’s spirit.
Alongside these are works by Grieg, Bruckner, Elgar, and contemporary Lithuanian composers – Dalia Kairaitytė, Alvidas Remesa, and Vaclovas Augustinas – compositions in which contemplation, simplicity, and profoundly felt musical language intertwine. The program is complemented by Frederik Neyrinck’s Artikel nr. 1 – a work of contemporary choral expression that unveils a different, bolder face of spiritual music.
