In tonight’s program, the audience is invited to explore the tradition of French chanson, presented by Chris Ruebens (guitar, vocals), Nerijus Bakula (accordion), and Tadas Dešukas (violin).

The selected songs by Édith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Thomas Dutronc, and Georges Brassens represent different directions of French popular music — from intimate lyricism to rhythmically lively narrative ballads. In Chris Ruebens’ arrangements, these pieces take on a new chamber form, blending guitar harmonies, the timbral color of the accordion, and melodic interjections from the violin.
