Young pianist Ignas Maknickas presents a program encompassing works by composers from different Romantic and post-Romantic traditions – Robert Schumann, Frédéric Chopin, and Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. This repertoire forms a chronological and stylistic axis of piano literature, revealing a variety of interpretive directions: from the psychological narrative of late German Romanticism, through Polish piano poetry, to the aesthetics of Lithuanian symbolism.
Maknickas, who most often performs internationally, is a laureate of numerous competitions and has performed with various orchestras, including the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Indiana University Bloomington Symphony, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, and London Mozart Orchestra. He has given recitals in halls such as Wigmore Hall, Steinway Hall (London), Auditorium du Louvre (Paris), Charlottenborg Festival Hall (Copenhagen), and the Lithuanian National Philharmonic.
