In 2025, we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, and this concert invites audiences on a sonic journey in the footsteps of this visionary artist. “After Čiurlionis” is a unique concert marking the release of the new CD album of the same name. Pianist Dmitrijus Golovanovas and saxophonist Janas Maksimovičius blend classical piano music with contemporary jazz improvisation in a deeply personal and creative tribute.

Čiurlionis’s preludes emerge here as vivid, improvisational soundscapes—conveying both the fragility and grandeur of his music, while preserving the distinctive harmonic language of the composer. According to the performers, this is not merely a stylistic reinterpretation, but rather a dialogue across epochs, cultures, and aesthetics, with Čiurlionis’s music serving as inspiration for a new, spontaneously created sound world—right there on stage.
