Girmantė Vaitkutė & Band

On this evening, five prominent Lithuanian jazz and popular music performers come together: Girmantė Vaitkutė (vocals), Andrej Polevikov (piano), Mindaugas Vadoklis (trumpet, flugelhorn), Denis Murašov (bass, double bass), and Darius Rudis (drums).

Their collaboration blends folk melodies with contemporary jazz aesthetics, creating a new, organic musical narrative. The program features pieces from previous projects by Andrej and Girmantė, as well as selections from their new album “Lullabies of the Sleeping City.” Alongside Lithuanian folk songs, the program explores traditional melodies from other cultures, presented in modern arrangements where improvisation, harmonic exploration, and subtle jazz rhythms become a natural continuation of the folk material.

The ensemble members, well-known figures on the Lithuanian music scene, are noted for their mature interpretations and strong musical communication, allowing the folk material to be reimagined in fresh ways while preserving its melodic and stylistic identity.
