Karlsson’s School at the Klaipėda Concert Hall
On Tuesday, November 19th, at 12:00 PM and 6:30 PM, the Klaipėda Concert Hall will host “Karlsson’s School.” This is truly an unusual phenomenon – a school in a concert hall! This colorful educational program for children aged 5 to 11 has been prepared by the Klaipėda Brass Quintet.
In Sweden’s capital, Stockholm, on the roof of an apartment building, stands a small house behind a chimney. In this house lives a “handsome, clever, and well-fed man in the prime of his life” named Karlsson. The famous writer Astrid Lindgren, who lived nearby, told stories about him in her books, likely having met him many times during her walks.
This mischievous character, who never wants to grow up, loves to play pranks. It’s never boring with him, as his mind is always full of various ideas. Now, he has decided to learn to play the trumpet. And not just the trumpet, but all the brass instruments at once! And he’s not only planning to learn himself, but also to teach others!
How he manages to realize his plans will be revealed when you visit “Karlsson’s School.” There, you will meet not only Karlsson, portrayed by actor Aurelijus Liškauskas, but also the Klaipėda Brass Quintet. The group is led by and features Sigitas Petrulis on the trumpet. His colleague Tadas Česnauskas will also play the trumpet, Monika Miliauskienė will play the French horn, Arvydas Stakvilevičius will skillfully handle the trombone, and Vidmantas Liasis will manage the quintet’s largest instrument, the tuba.
The program was directed by Nerijus Gedminas, who also plays the role of the school director. It will be a fun musical activity full of surprises and pranks.
Dear children, mommies, and daddies! It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to play the trumpet or trombone yet. Come yourselves, bring along all the little ones who already know Karlson and those who haven’t heard of him yet!
*The ticket price includes a €1.40 Kakava.lt system service fee. This fee is not subject to discounts.
