This is a concert by the renowned Lithuanian-born cellist and conductor David Geringas, featuring two pieces for cello and orchestra: the repertoire classic Camille Saint-Saëns's Cello Concerto in A minor and Franz Schubert's "Arpeggione" Sonata, orchestrated for cello and orchestra. The performance will showcase not only the famous maestro but also the young cello talent from Germany, eleven-year-old Charlotte Melkonian, who won the International David Geringas Cello Competition in Klaipėda last year.

Charlotte is a student at the Julius Stern Institute of the Berlin University of the Arts, studying under the famous German cellist Prof. Jens Peter Maintz. Alongside the Romantic masterpieces, the program conducted by D. Geringas will feature "Serenade" for Strings (1897) by Mieczysław Karłowicz, a Polish composer born in Lithuania, which belongs to the late Romanticism period, and the spectacular symphonic poem "Orawa" (1986) by Wojciech Kilar, which incorporates the musical motifs of the highlanders from the Orawa region near the Polish-Slovak border.
