“Music Without Chairs” is a concert based on the principles of somatic listening, where classical music is experienced not through traditional seated listening but by freely moving through the space. The audience is invited to choose the most personally suitable way to engage with the music: standing, lying down, moving, or remaining still, listening with eyes open or closed. This approach encourages listening not only with the mind but also with the body.
The concert features works performed by pianist Darius Mažintas, accompanied by guidance from somatics teacher Kamilė Pundziūtė. The project is created in collaboration with Šokių Erdvė, a platform rooted in somatic practice, whose methods are integrated into the concert’s structure. Pianist D. Mažintas’ aim to rethink the traditional classical music format is expressed here as an authentic and experimental way to create a connection between performer, sound, and listener.
