Playful Sounds of Music Orchestra

For almost six decades, Richard Rodgers' musical "The Sound of Music," based on true events, has left no one indifferent. The melodies of this classic work linger long in memory. On stage, the audience will see all their favorite characters: Maria, the Captain, and the seven children. The roles will be performed by young actors Evelina Šimelionė and Gytis Šimelionis, along with singing children, most of whom study at Klaipėda Vydūnas Gymnasium. The singing and acting team will be accompanied by the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra (artistic director Mindaugas Bačkus).

Evelina Šimelionė, the actress and director of the theatrical concert, shared that she grew up with the songs from the movie "The Sound of Music" and visited the filming locations in Salzburg several times. Many musical fans might not know that many details of this story are entirely true. There really was a Maria who planned to become a nun but fell in love with a Captain with seven children, and they made music together! This extraordinary story has inspired many creators worldwide, including the team behind this educational project. "We will talk about the most important things – family, love, obedience to parents, and, of course, music," says E. Šimelionė.

The project's soul, E. Šimelionė, wrote Lithuanian lyrics for the beautifully enchanting music. Songs like "My Favorite Things," "Something Good," and "I Have Confidence" received new Lithuanian titles – "Dalykai mieli" (Favorite Things), "Geri darbai" (Good Deeds), "Pasitikiu savimi" (I Have Confidence). The costumes and set design for the theatrical concert were handled by Laima Aksinaitė. "The entire creative team of the show is wonderful; everyone is working very sincerely, and I hope the audience will appreciate our efforts," says the project director.
