The audience is in for a unique experience with the Warsaw University of Technology Academic Choir and its artistic director, the renowned Polish choral conductor of Lithuanian descent, Darius Zimnickas, who was born in Puńsk. A graduate of the Vilnius Juozas Tallat-Kelpša Conservatory and the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Professor D. Zimnickas is an active figure in Poland’s choral culture. He has been leading the Warsaw University of Technology Choir since 2004 while also conducting the Warsaw Archcathedral Choir and several other ensembles.
The university choir is the winner of Poland’s largest choral competition, the Grand Prix Stuligrosz (2008). Its repertoire primarily consists of a cappella works from various eras, large-scale compositions, and premieres by Polish composers. Recognized as one of Poland’s finest choirs, it undoubtedly stands out among European university choirs. To mark the anniversary festival, the choir is coming to Klaipėda – and the artistic director promises to surprise the festival audience with Lithuanian compositions!
