One of Europe’s most distinguished choirs, the Warsaw Philharmonic Choir, led by artistic director and chief conductor Bartosz Michałowski, will perform at the Klaipėda Concert Hall. This evening invites the audience to a unique encounter with the Polish a cappella tradition, whose roots reach back to the Renaissance and whose branches extend to contemporary composers.
The program reveals a wide historical spectrum: from early masters Wacław of Szamotuły, Mikołaj Zielenski, and Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki, who shaped the foundations of Polish choral culture, to 20th-century legends Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Wojciech Kilar, and Krzysztof Penderecki, whose works have made Poland’s musical tradition known worldwide. A special focus of the evening is the work of the younger generation of Polish composers.
Compositions by Szymon Godziemba-Trytek, Anna Rocławska-Musiałczyk, Łukasz Urbaniak, and Zuzanna Kozia enrich the program with new colors, contemporary choral textures, and a fresh creative approach.
