Undiscovered Klaipėda

The contemporary music festival “Permainų muzika” (Music of Changes) invites listeners to discover how the authentic spirit of the Klaipėda region might sound today. This concert is a respectful tribute to the city—an homage that unveils the still-unheard sounds of Klaipėda.

At the heart of the program are rarely performed works by local composers, echoing the melodies of the ancient Curonians and Samogitians. These newly written pieces—premieres for wind quintet and choir—form a kind of sonic map, intertwining fragments of the city’s history, coastal landscapes, and human destinies.

The rich timbre of the Klaipėda Brass Quintet and the voices of the Aukuras Choir come together to shape a unique soundscape—ranging from folklore-inspired themes to bold contemporary expressions.
