Voices of Aukuras and Jazz Orchestra

The Klaipėda Choir “Aukuras” and the Klaipėda Jazz Orchestra present a joint program in which the classical choral tradition intertwines with the sound of the jazz orchestra. In this concert, listeners will hear interpretations of popular classical works and well-known jazz standards arranged for the combined ensemble. The program highlights the dialogue between two musical practices — academic and improvisational — revealing the complementarity and stylistic interaction of their differing performance aesthetics.

The blend of Aukuras’s vocal unity and the jazz orchestra’s rhythmic and brass textures creates a new, dynamic sonic structure, allowing familiar pieces to be heard through fresh interpretive colors. This project analyzes and connects different musical traditions while preserving their individuality and functional characteristics.
